GenCon 50

Pure Steam had a blast at GenCon 50! What a way to celebrate gaming history.

This was our first year with a booth space. We sold Pure Steam and Westbound, as well as minis from our RPG line. We also sold our novella, The Alchemist’s Run. Our vehicle artist, Alejandro Lee (47ness), had his comics and art prints at the booth too.

Chris DeHart cosplayed as Pure Steam villains on Friday and Saturday. On Friday he was Arkoba of Atanak from Westbound. On Saturday Chris went next level as the Viscount con Lichten, a steampunk lich, the rules for which we will release soon! The Viscount boasted glowing tubes of reanimate fluid as well as an RF undead control cap.

We ran a record number of events and maintained Premier Event Status with Gen Con. Our RPG sessions ranged from level 1 to 10 and included vehicle combat, dungeon crawls, and exploration. Next year we intend to run even more sessions and introduce at least two new adventures.

The team also debuted Junkyard Derby, our new card/board game. In the game, players construct steampunk racers and race and battle through the streets while avoiding hazards. It was met with great excitement. We will be Kickstarting Junkyard Derby soon!

The convention was great, and we appreciate all who visited our booth and played a game. See you next year! What was your favorite part of GenCon 50?
